There’s Nothing Punny About Bullying

On Today's Show....

Matt pops by to join Tim, Josh, and Mike to talk about cyberbullying. Man, things have changed since we were young. Sure, we got punched, stuffed in lockers, or in Mike’s case, put in a tractor tire and pushed down a hill, but when we got home, it was over. Once you take schoolyard bullying online, and add the relative anonymity and freedom from consequences the internet brings, it’s rough to be a kid in 2018.In an era where we are constantly connected, how do children escape the deluge of kids being jerks to each other online? Let’s grab a beer and talk about it. It’s a good thing three of our hosts are fathers! Tim is more of a fun uncle….

Also Overheard....

  • We break Josh’s twitter thumbs.
  • Is this real life? Or is this just fantasy? Probably a little of both. Thanks, Facebook.
  • Pay up or kill them?
  • When it comes to kids online, we need a version of “the talk”.
  • Teaching common sense vs. “Don’t talk to strangers”.
  • Josh pops and locks, and turns us on and off.
  • Kids are both the problem and the solution.
  • I don’t think unplugging is an option anymore.

We want to hear what you think!

Bonus: Korea’s Got Seoul

Bonus Round!

Originally recorded 27 April 2018

Enjoy an extra round with Tim, Matt, Mike, and Josh, as the discuss the recent peace overture made by North Korea. Do we give Trump credit? Is this all some sort of trick or trap by Pyongyang? If there’s one group of international diplomacy experts you can trust, it’s us. Enjoy!

The Right To Be Insulted

On This Week's Show....

Josh, Mike, and Tim welcome Matt back to the show for our inaugural recording in the “You Had Me At Beer” studio. The Canadian Human Right Commission was established in 1977 as a way to investigate and settle issues of human rights abuses in Canada in a legal and (somewhat) judicial matter. While they have done quite a bit of good, we still have to wonder about a few of their decision. Join us as we discuss if the concept of a seperate judicial process is needed for human rights abuse, and what, if anything, could replace the tribunal.

Audio note: In addition to changing studios, we recently changed our recording software…and apparently didn’t really know what we were doing. There might be a bit of distortion here and there. Our sincerest apologies.

Also Overheard:

  • Tim ‘minecrafted’ this thing together.
  • The Dutch discriminate a lot. Matt was only half insulted.
  • JOSH IS PUPATING!
  • Professor Josh needs a translator.
  • White, Straight, or Intelligent. Matt gets to pick two of the three.
  • Rights aren’t pie!
  • No one knows oppression like four white straight middle classed males with disposible income, amiright???
  • Remember when Kirk and the Time Lords took the Battlestar Galatica to fight the Wookies?
  • A Two And Change shout-out to Ken Lam. This man should never have to pay for beer again.

We gotta throw someone under the bus?

The council on the bus goes “Screw you guys!  Screw you guys!  Screw you guys!”  In this episode, we talk about infrastructure spending – public transit.  It seems many city councils firmly believe that if you can’t please everyone, it’s far better to accomplish what can actually be done: piss everyone off.  Why is infrastructure spending so hard to get right?  Wouldn’t it all be so much better if they just let us make all the decisions?  Two and Change for Mayor!

In this episode:

  • Rob thinks Josh is above mediocre.
  • Josh proposes killing all stupid people.
  • We discuss the criteria for non-disgusting toes.
  • Relax Tim; it was the orphans’ fault.
  • Matt likes it when balls explode in his mouth.
  • Bob doesn’t need a living room.
  • Nineteen Dickety-Doo is our editor’s new favourite year.
  • We are all professional city planners.
  • Tim has a low opinion of our listeners and their approved government handlers.

Cards Against Humanity Link that Tim won’t look up.

Presidential Hunger Games

Episode Four: Presidential Hunger Games

Tim, Josh, and Matt helm this episode where we discuss beer, Nickleback, JFK, and who would win if instead of regular elections, presidents were picked “Hunger Games” style. Where did Mike go? Apparently, the demands of a normal life meant he had to sit this one out, but we were fortunate to have Matt with us.
